Dr. Michael Raizman
Dr. Michael Raizman joined the BostonSight Board of Directors to provide his expertise and support. He believes the organization delivers unparalleled services and technology that both his patients and thousands of others benefit from, with life-changing results.
Dr. Raizman received his medical training at Harvard Medical School and the University of Michigan. He completed two fellowships at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary, followed by three years of research at Harvard Medical School, funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Raizman served on the full-time faculty at Harvard Medical School from 1988-1991.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He serves as an examiner for doctors seeking certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Raizman is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he has directed the Corneal Fellowship Program since 1992. He is on the medical staff of the Massachusetts General Hospital, Massachusetts Eye and Ear, and Tufts Medical Center.
Dr. Raizman has pioneered many advancements in the field of cornea. Under his leadership, Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston was a primary study site for corneal crosslinking, a breakthrough treatment that has changed the visual prognosis for patients with keratoconus. In 2020, Dr. Raizman was honored as the Ophthalmologist of the Year by the National Keratoconus Foundation. In addition, he has lead developments in laser vision correction and laser therapy of eye disorders. He has participated in dozens of clinical trials and published the results of trials, primarily in corneal surgery and ocular drug therapy.
Dr. Raizman has served on multiple medical and advisory boards as well as journal editorial boards. He received a senior honor award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2007 for his scientific presentations and educational activities. He has delivered over 300 invited lectures throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, and Asia and has been a visiting professor at the medical schools of Columbia University, UCLA, University of Michigan, University of Texas, Loyola, Jefferson Medical College, and others.
Dr. Raizman specializes in cataract surgery, lens implant surgery, and the surgical and medical treatment of the cornea.
