Cornea Anterior Segment Surgeon

After completing her M.B.B.S from Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College (Sion Hospital) in 1996, Dr. Urmi did her Masters in Ophthalmology (M.S) of University of Mumbai from the prestigious Seth GS medical college and King Edward Memorial hospital in 2000. She was conferred diploma (D.O.M.S) and fellowship (F.C.P.S) of The College of Physicians and Surgeons, Mumbai during this period. She received her fellowship training in Cornea and anterior segment diseases from world renowned L V Prasad eye institute, Hyderabad in 2000-2001 and continued to work as an adjunct faculty there.
She cofounded The Eye Super Specialities (TESS) a tertiary level comprehensive eye care center situated in Mumbai. At present she is the joint director, chief administrator and head of the cornea and anterior segment as well as the contact lens clinic at TESS.

Prasad Sawant, O.D.
Optom. Prasad K. Sawant is a PROSE Clinical Associate at The Eye Super Specialties, Mumbai India clinic.
He has completed his Masters degree in Optometry from Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College, Pune, India. He has also completed his clinical Fellowship from L.V.Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India in 2003. In the year 2009, he completed his 3 months PROSE Clinical Fellowship at Boston Foundation for Sight, MA. Since then, he is providing best possible care to all the eligible PROSE patients in India and neighboring countries. He is also a Fellow of International Association of Contact lens Educators, Australia.
Since 2003, he is successfully running his own private Optometry practice, at Dombivli-Mumbai. His areas of interest are anterior segment pathologies, Contact lenses, Low Vision and Glaucoma investigations & diagnostics. He is a visiting faculty for Bharati Vidyapeeth School of Optometry, Pune, India. He also gets invited as the guest faculty in various Optometry School across the nation for specialty contact lenses and Optometry practice management sessions.
He is on the university examiner panel and invited as external examiner in various Optometry colleges nationally. He has presented several oral presentations in various Ophthalmology and Optometry conferences in India. His PG thesis was selected as a oral presentation for VISION 2005 conference held in London.
Last two years, he was on expert’s panel TVCI, India of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care. As a TVCI speaker, he has conducted several training sessions on generic education of contact lenses for emerging Optometrists and leading Opticians including the chain outlets in India.
He is also in the Clinical Expert team of Bausch & Lomb-India, conducting the clinical trial studies for their contact lens products before they get in Indian market.
In January 2012, Alcon India has selected him as their Key Opinion Leader (KOL) from west zone. As a KOL he is conducting CME’s and delivering the talks on the generic contact lens education by promoting the ethical contact lens practice in India.
